A few times a year I will get an email from something called The Web’s Biggest Directory asking me to update my listing on their site. Directories like that are a relic now, but in the 90’s some of them were useful to varying degrees. But I always enjoy getting this periodic reminder from TWBD, because the email includes the text from my listing in their directory:
Once there was a young lad named Exhibit A who lived in a haiku repair shop in The Thirteenth Dimension. He fell in love with a girl named TGI Marmot, who sold imaginary postcards for a living. They were married twenty years prior at an organic rodeo, during a Loveryboy concert. The end.
I don’t remember writing that, but I always enjoy the reminder that I did write that one wacky day long ago. It’s like getting an email from the version of myself that lived 10 years ago. So no, sir or madam, I will not update my listing in your directory. Good day to you.
