Poster for Jacques Tati’s 1949 film Jour de fête (via benedesign)

Visited the lovely Tati exhibit at the Helsinki Post Museum earlier this week. I couldn’t help but feel a bit underwhelmed, as I was expecting something along the lines of the huge Tati exhibit at La Cinémathèque française… Anyways, the exhibit featured some nice artifacts, like the original Jour de fête screenplay and the mailman’s bag used in the film. My favourite bit were the enlarged reproductions of Finnish Tati posters. Sadly, none were for sale at the museum gift shop.

Coincidentally, the films of Tati will be screened here in Nashville at the Belcourt Theatre, Sept 23 - Oct 7.  Jour de Féte is both the first film on the list and one of the Tati films I’ve not seen yet, so I’m very much looking forward to it.
