Lost in Translation Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind The Royal Tenenbaums The Taste of Tea Synecdoche, New York 2046 The Diving Bell and the Butterfly The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou High...

1. Fantastic Mr. Fox This is probably Wes Anderson’s most accessible movie yet.  He has been my favorite filmmaker for several years now, but I was terribly skeptical when I first heard he was making a stop-motion animated movie based on a children’s book.  But Wes’s trademark style is easily recognizable, and it blends wonderfully with this medium. 2. The Brothers Bloom Who...

There’s very little info available in English, but it looks like Katsuhito Ishii’s Ichigo Seminar is an online / straight to video offering.  Ishii is a brilliant filmmaker and a master of extraordinary silliness.  Fans of Bang Bang should note that Ichigo Seminar features Rinko Kikuchi.
